Ancestors, True Will, & the Hunger of Ghosts

Daniel Foor // ancestralmedicine.org

Sekhet Maat Lodge, 7950 SE Foster, Portland

Our bright and loving ancestors can also help us to clarify our destiny, important relationships, and work in the world. Conversely, failing to address the influence of ghosts in our lineages can hinder our journey of remembering will and soul-level purpose.

Attendees will learn ways to safely and directly engage family and older lineage ancestors for guidance, healing, and inspiration. We’ll also talk about ghosts, trauma, and the ways that the dead can cross our intent to be well and awake sovereigns. All welcome, including those with a troubled family or no knowledge of their ancestors.

Daniel is a doctor of psychology, initiate in Ifa/Oriṣa tradition, and long-term student of animism, ritual, and non-dogmatic ritual technologies. Sekhet-Maat Lodge has open hours from 6:30 until class starts at 7:30pm, so feel free to mingle ahead of time. Class is free and donations are warmly welcome, appreciated.  For details on the space, location, etc. see: sekhetmaat.com/main/calendar

Wed Oct 5th  Ancestral Healing for Social and Ecological Justice   7-8:30pm    $10-20

Daniel Foor // ancestralmedicine.org

Song of Stardust House // 5234 SE 54th Portland, OR 97206

In this relaxed, heart-centered evening teaching and discussion, we’ll consider ways in which the wise, loving ancestors as well as the troubled dead already speak through our current cultural conflicts. Many modern folks are not raised with a framework for safely and beneficially honoring the ancestors, and we’ll explore some implications of this breakdown of relationship and how it relates to the acute need for greater social and ecological justice.

Expect to learn some tangible ways to more consciously invoke ancestral support for necessary cultural change and healing. All are welcome, including those new to practices of ancestor reverence or to proactive work for social and ecological justice. Suggested donation $10-20, no need to confirm in advance.

Daniel is a doctor of psychology, initiate in Ifá/Òrìṣà tradition, and long-term student of animism and non-dogmatic ritual technologies. He’s the author of the upcoming book Ancestral Medicine: Rituals for Personal and Family Healing and he’ll be guiding a three-day ancestral and family healing intensive Oct 7-9th at Sekhet-Maat Lodge in Portland. Ancestral and Family Healing Intensive

Fri-Sun, Oct 7-9th, 10am-5pm each day

Sekhet Maat Lodge, 7950 SE Foster, Portland (Facebook page)

Everyone has loving and wise ancestors, and by reaching out for their support we access tremendous vitality for personal and family healing. In addition to supporting repairs with living family, our ancestors encourage healthy self-esteem and help us to clarify our destiny, relationships, and work in the world. Participants will learn to relate safely and directly with family ancestors, both helpful guides and the troubled dead in need of assistance. Expect to engage lineage ancestors through prayer, song, visioning practices, and group dialogue.

This is the core ancestor training that I’ve guided throughout the United States since 2005. There are no prerequisites, however, experience with inner work/psychological healing and relating with spirit guides/teachers are both helpful. Folks new to ancestor work, adoptees, and those with a tough experience of family are warmly welcome and can expect to make connection with beneficial ancestral guides in their own lineages. Those with a healing arts practice will learn new skills to support your work.

Spaces are limited; pre-registration and full attendance requested. Training is 10am-5pm each day. Cost is $350 for the full three days and, as always, just talk with me if you need flexibility to attend. To register, payment of some part of the total confirms your place. See ancestors page for details: ancestralmedicine.org/ancestors or be in touch with questions.

My peer and friend Pavini Moray told me about Daniel Foor and his work in March when we were meeting to review their path working for Surrender 2015. Pavini and Kai Wu facilitated 3 days of a path called “Worshipping the Bones: Ancestor Reverence for Sexual Healing”. Two weeks later, Kat Camp, a Priestess in Training with Living Love Revolution Aphrodite Temples sent me a video of Daniel explaining the diference between hungy ghosts and Bright Ancestors. A series of synchronicities arose that brought Daniel to stay at my home and do sessions there during his next visit to Portland in April. I did a session with Daniel and attended his talk at New Renaissance Books. I gained so much helpful information in his class and during our personal session. My relationships with my Blood ancestors has dramatically improved. I highly recommend Daniel’s work and his 1:1 sessions. I now have confidence in my ability to work daily with my ancestor altar and how to communicate more effectively with both hungry ghosts and bright ancestors in my own lineage. See the videos about Daniel’s ideas here.
